These are some pics of a ride we usually take once a year out to an abandoned prison in Northern Ontario.

Thanks for posting those great pictures. I love seeing where people ride. I live in a populated area and can't imagine riding without keeping an eye out for The Man.

We have an abandoned prison here, too... Alcatraz!

Hey D'Arcy, is that trail on any map? Looks like it would be a cool ride.

thanks,

John: Yeah, that's an 88cc kit on it from Dratv. And I finally got some decals for it, too.

Matt: That prison is called Camp Bison (closed in 1977), and is part of a larger ghost town called Burwash. I don't think that trail is on any maps, but it's not hard to get to (just a little south of Sudbury), and niether is it for the faint of heart. Two riders (the girl in the tanktop, and a rather full-grown and embarrassed man) had their bikes go completely underwater trying to get around some very nasty washed out spots. Good thing it was hot that day and they dried out eventually.

I'll say one thing about these Ct70s: water does not kill 'em. It'll stall 'em out for sure, but they always fire right back up again.

I here ya, I took my ct70 through a rather deep puddle like thing and all it did was steam. It was actually fairly deep 'cause my feet were soaked. Are there any main roads near the enterance to the camp?
thanks: MATT

Yeah, it's right off of Highway 69, then you take a dirt road about 5 really bumpy miles before you can unload the bikes. From there it's a whole series of trails and gravel pits, with only one trail (the washed out one) to link back to the prison. All told, I'd say we travelled about 17 miles tooling all over the trails in the area.

I'm pretty sure the only reason water even stalls the bike out at all is it's getting the sparkplug wire wet.

You say you take the trail now and then, is the trail to the jail always washed out or just temperarily? If its always flooded how deep, it sounds cool and I will definately check it out.

thanks, Matthew
