Took Mine out for an Adventure today - 06-28-2008, 03:31 AM

Well I had the day off today and wanted to check the snow levels in Oregon. I needed a bike I could lift over logs and clear snow patches, so I lodaed up the 70 and headed out. This year Oregon has had high snow loads. The last few weeks I have been trying to make it over the Cascade passes by dirt road on my big Buell. Unable to make it. Today I carried my CT70 over about 20 logs down, several creek crossings and was finally stopped by 12 feet of snow at 3500 feet. I will try again next week. It is a fun little bike.

As I anticipate going up in my attic to finish installing my garage AC system the snow and the mountains sure look good to me. We're expecting mid 90s today with about a zillion percent humidity. Thank goodness for great big attic fans. Of course, my complaining stops when I'm still riding in December and January. Nevertheless, I wish I could have joined you on your adventure.

Hey, . . . a Buell, a CT, AND a Hodaka?? (a.k.a.Hoda-cracker ) You have the good toys!! I've owned a number of Hodakas over the years, . . . wish I still had the Super Rat, and the Steens with the Earles forks. Those were the good old days.

After the long winter we had, the last thing I need to see is snow. The great-white-north is pretty warm right now.

Although my Igloo is looking pretty crappy

How does the CT run as you increase altitude? Are you having to chase carb adjustments?

I have a very understanding wife with the toys. Got lucky.

On the performance side, it seems to pop on decel the same at 200 feet as it did at 3500 feet. Still pulled me up a pretty steep grade, had to shift between 1st and 2nd but got my through just fine.

Great story! That's what is so great about these little bikes. They can take us to places we would never dream of walking too. Plus if you need to pick them up over something your only talking 150 lbs to pick up or push. Great story, thanks for the pics.
