The old CT90s had a "step" (terminology?) on both ends of the shift pedal, so you could only easily push down on either end, and I think the bend made the steps stuck up some above the peg. The ST shifter has the nice rubber covered toe peg that lets you up and down shift with your toe if you want. The splines on the shift shaft should be the same, so it should work fine.

FWIW, my old CL90 had a shifter like the ST90 and one of the first things I did was to hacksaw the heel portion off, cuz it always hung on my boot. So I only used my toe for shifting.

i had one on my st90 10 years ago and loved it. i never had to worry about marking up my shoes on the top side cause i would use the heal section.

It's funny you say this cookiemonster about marking up the shoes with the shifter. My wife just said to me yesterday that my new Nikes are getting all dirty on the top of my left shoe only! Definitely from using that darn CT70 shifter! LOL

yeah the heal toe shifter helps. i also have sensitve feet i guess. if i am wearing tennis shoes and ride one of my motorcycles in town for more than an hour or two shifting up and down constantly my foot begins to hurt. never the less. invest in an st90 shifter and your clean shoe problem is solved.

Would a CT 90 shifter work on a CT 70 shaft too? It also has the heel toe shifter setup.

I believe it will.

I always enjoy watching people jump on a CT70 with open-toed sandals. Eventually, they just reach down with their hand to shift.
