Here's a Peformance Carb Tip!!!!! - 08-24-2008, 10:15 PM

I just thought I would share my carb setup with everyone here! Instead of buying a Chinese Knock off Carb for your modified engine, get yourself a Carb off a Honda ATC110! These are 20mm bore, and they have both fuel line spigots! I believe the one I purchased was off of a 84 model. The nice thing is, they are made with Keihin precision and parts are readily available. I have mine mounted to a 20mm DrATV intake with the insulator bored out to 20mm as well and a "HEBO" brand 45 degree air filter. Works awesome with my DrATV 88cc kit and race cam! Although,You may need a cable with a longer inner length as the top cap has longer cable guide on it. You will have to play with the needle position and main jets depending on your setup.
Thanks

Wow man killer imfo!! What other sets up have you tried to compare too as far as carbs? I have a 19mm on my 110 and I swear it just feels like slightly bigger bore carb might be a good match to let it breath better. Thanks for posting!

I tried a 20mm Keipai carb purchased from a ebay seller. The problem with it was, the fuel valve and choke lever was on the right side of the carb when mounted. Ouch, hot exhaust....Ouch hot exhaust! Also they have non adjustable needles and the pilot/main jets are really hard to find. The jets are also not numbered for size, which makes it really hard to establish a base setting.
The Keihin PB20mm from the 110's are absolutley perfect! Fuel valve/Choke lever is on the left and has "ON", "RES", and "OFF". And best of all, it's Japenese quality with good tuneablility... is that a word? I had mine out tonight, and with my engine mods, 3-speed tranny, and 15/35 gearing, I was able to cruise in the 40-45mph range with ease! Keep in mind though, I'am lighter then a fart in a wind storm. I'am still playing with the jetting. I have a 82 in there now but I think I need to be close to a 90 or so. I will post some photos and let you know my final jetting.
Thanks.

I bet an ATC/TRX 125 carb would also work well, and the manifold that comes with them is already offset, so it might work on a CT. They've got the petcock on the bowl as well, like CTs.

I've stuck a 125 manifold on a hot rodded Z50 and it worked like a charm, but that was using a Mikuni carb, . . . I had to use a tall spacer at the head so the bowl would clear.

Yea the choke on the left side should be a no brainer. Throttle right hand choke left hand. dahhh. I've had good luck with my 19 mm Sheig Whey [ or however you spell that ] but a bit bigger might be good. More air.

I lied, the carb I'am using is from a 79-83 ATC110. But the 84-85's will work too. The difference is the 84-85 have the fuel filter built into the bottom of the bowl. Not a bad idea!
