Speedo Question - 01-02-2009, 02:27 AM

I finally got the HKO all fine turned so the wife and I went on a 5 mile buz around the neighborhood to break it in. Couple questions ??
1.The speedometer works great to about 35 mph but as the bikes speed goes beyond that the speedo needle stays at 35. Anyone know what to look for??
2. The tranny shifts really smooth through the gears up and down through the gear pattern, but I stopped at a stop sign in 2nd gear and it was a b^&&*tch to get it into nuteral at a standing stop with the engine running. Is that normal??

Here's a pic of our rides

Forgot to put question #3

These were in the box of parts of the HKO. Anyone know if I should have used them?? The second pic is a close up of the part on the left.

They look like parts off the rear shocks.

I like the blue KO the best. The banana seat on your orange HKO looks a little odd.

Did you put my carburetor on the HKO or KO?

That seat does look a little banana like? What's up with that? Compared to the other KO.

Hornet,

I put the carb on the HKO. I couldnt get the original to idle after 2 rebuilds. I bought yours for a spare until I get that thing dailed in. It was better the second time but not great. I wanted a good spare just to have and yours fit the bill.

The seat on the orange one is a piece of crap I found on e-bay for cheap. I havent been able to find a good original to work with so I got that just so I could ride it. The one that came with the bike was way to far gone to do anything with. It was crumbing in my hand I was unbolting it.

I'm glad we could help each other out. It's a great running carburetor.

CHP sells a nice KO/HKO seat. It costs $240.00. Last I checked, they were out of stock but, were expecting a new shipment soon.

Thanks Grant, I will take a look at that.

Hornet,

I thought someone here on the boards said that CHP would not be making that seat anymore?? I will have to give them a call on Monday.

I read that too but, when I called they claimed they were getting another shipment in 6 weeks (January). Then again, that's the standard CHP answer to anything out of stock. Give them a call and let us know what they say.

Well, I finally had a chance to call CHP today regarding the KO seat. They are out of stock. When I asked if they would be getting more in, he kind of studdered a little and said he thinks he may get some in in March. It didnt sound very convincing to me.
