Carb Question - 11-15-2008, 06:08 PM

just reinstalled engine in 72CT70HK1 and cannot get the bike to idle down. It revs fine but the idle is way too fast, seems like about 2000RPM. Any one had similar problems or a fix?

Rotate the black/grey throttle tube around the needle 180 degrees. Probably got the tube in backwards, very easy to do. It must slide all the way down into the carb seat.

Tried that already. Its almost like the cable is too short.

Did you replace the throttle cable? Is the throttle cable sitting correctly in the carb cap adjuster and cable holder (inside the right handle bar)? Did you adjust anything on the carb? That's just a few ideas I had that you might want to check.

thanks guys, I figured out the problem. Where the cable in the handle bar fit, I had the part backwards with the cable, taking up about 3/8 of an inch. That was enough to cause the high idle.
