Ebay vs other selling web based formats. - 10-30-2008, 06:05 PM

Seems that ebay is the only place to sell nice items and people pay more than they would on other venues.

Other venues appear to be for the serious bargain hunters.

Any other venues for selling that have been successful?

I usually find the bike or model specific sites are best for people that are serious.

Too many "tire kickers" on e bay, but there is still a deal or two to be found if your patient.

Craigslist can be good, but since it's a free listing, stuff gets listed with VERY high hopes.

Ebay seems to be the only place to find anything.I check Craigslist often and very seldom find any CT 70 bikes or parts in Houston. As big as Houston is you would think there would be quite a few listings, but there seem to be a lot more in the northern states.Same goes for Ebay, most bikes listed are up north.

Maybe there are more CTs up north cuz they couldn't be ridden year round so they didn't get worn out as quickly?

I've had about the same luck as Dennis with Craigslist here in my little corner of Texas, though I did score a total beater '74 model for $50 a few months back. Most Craigslist CTs are grossly overpriced around here. And if you don't catch the good deals right away they're gone.

As far as ebay goes, I've stumbled across some good deals on parts, (like a set of perfect '92 forks for, like $25 about 3-4 months ago. I forget the exact amount.) but you have to be patient. Usually the best deals are from people that write really bad descriptions, so almost no one finds their auction. Misspelling words in your search can help sometimes.
