Engine cradle - 05-27-2008, 08:26 AM

Here's something i just realized the other day.The earlier cradles have a square tab for the spark plug guard as where the later one's have a rounded tab.On my last project i had a hard time mounting the cradle.Sure enough it had the rounded tabs.I tried another with the square tabs and it bolted right up.I always thought all the guards were the same but maybe not.I had the same problem on another bike that i sold several years ago but can't recall which type of tabs it had. They can be forced to fit,but has lot's of tension on them.

The 69 and 70 ct's mostly had the square tab skid plate guard's. They switched over in later 1970. They shouldn't mount up any different though...

I wouldn't think they would mount any different either since the frames and engines really hasn't changed over the years. But the two cases i mentioned, the uprights seemed to be short and the cradles appeared to be straight and not bent.
