Exclamation So here's the deal.. PLEASE READ - 07-03-2006, 06:37 PM

As you may know Kenny from www.Hondatrail70.com has decided to move on and is leaving the trail 70 phase behind, and you will no longer find any updates on his site. I talked to Kenny on the phone earlier today and we talked about the site and how he doesn’t want anything to do with it anymore, and how he is no longer interested after the fuss Honda made about the manuals. In regards to that, he has asked me to "take over", start a new domain and he would set up a link on his site to the "new" one. I was very excited and anxious to hear this. I have currently been working on (soon to be) planetTrail70.com and I can only hope it carries on the tradition and spirit of these bikes and becomes the number one resource on the web for ones to discuss and get advice for these little machines.

This is the part where I need your guys' help. I have watched this board grow through the past two years and quite fast these past few months. I love how everyone here works as one and it has become somewhat of an elite community of minitrail diehards and owners. Although the webboard will remain to be a huge part of the upcoming site, I am also looking for other material to share as well. I need some feedback from you guys, and I want to know what you would like to see on a site devoted to these mintrails.. Manuals? Resto tips? Parts suppliers? Maybe an automated support/ticket system? Chat room? Gallery of pictures, videos, sound clips? FAQ for restorations, Minitrail stories.. You get the picture..

I am very excited to be working on something this meaningful and will keep everyone updated on the progress. I would like to thank Kenny once again for giving me this opportunity, and for being supportive through out this whole process.

Now its time for you guys to speak up <!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" oreferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"/> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"/> </v:formulas> <vath o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"/> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"/> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="_x0000_i1025" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:12pt; height:12pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\BENTIE~1.TIE\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01 \clip_image001.gif" o:href="http://s87907731.onlinehome.us/webboard/images/smilies/biggrin.gif"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

Oh, and please list a few ideas for domain names. The one im set on at the moment is planetTrail70.com. Thanks for everything guys (and ladies) <!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shape id="_x0000_i1026" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:12pt;height:12pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\BENTIE~1.TIE\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01 \clip_image002.gif" o:href="http://s87907731.onlinehome.us/webboard/images/smilies/smile.gif"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

Great News Ben!

I would second the vote for some info on the 50 series. These bikes were both sold side by side, and even share the minitrail moniker. Plus many of us have (or crave) both! There is an active community on the planetmini.com forum for CT and Z50 owners, and if you look through it you will see both.

There should also be a good amount of support for the new chinese imports, since many of us are interested in either the bikes or the motors.

When I got into this, before I found this board, I found tons of sites wordwide, and it really grew the fever.

One additional thing that would be good would be some walk throughs for some of the restoration and/or custom projects. Could be in either powerpoint or simply text.

A third really helpful area would be something where people could provide feedback or reviews of both products and sellers - which might best be limited to commercial sellers. Have a section for products people would like to see - it may spur someone to create or locate a source.

Finally, it would be really neat if we were able to figure out a way, as a group, to convince some the Japanese sellers to sell direct, or at least to a consortium purchase.

Lots of ideas and count me in to help out in any way I can!

I agree, as I have a z50a, a ct70, and an xr70. Check this out http://www.honda-elsinore.com/ then go under vintage db forums and see how it's set up. Perhaps you could have z50's,z50r's and qa50's under their own headings. What happened to Kenny with the Honda deal? Seems to me that if they can't or won't fill customers needs someone should. I'll bet they wanted their cut

Are you going to ask for some advertising for the site to help pay costs? Lots of pros and cons, - PM me for some of both I have seen on other boards.

I wonder if anyone has ever approached them to see if they would allow the reproductions to be sold if they were given a cut? Seems reasonable if there is no other way to circulate the info. I don't know if they are adverse to PDF's provided at no cost to users - since these are obviously past copyright....

That site I provided above has the owners manuals and parts manual's for various Elsinore models, but what I liked about Kenny's product's was the fact they were like the original and a quality product, but for reference, pdf's would be fine

Thanks for all the feedback guys. The reason Kenny became very frustrated was because Honda was shutting down all the illegal selling of the reproduced manuals for these bikes. Only thing they were worried about was copyright infringment. Turns out Kenny even offered them a percentage of the profits but Honda turned that idea down as well.

The PDF format is a good question, im not sure if Honda would make a fuss about that or not. I will look into that.

Another good section would be mini-trail movies!
