Steampick, Yeah, it's there. I had to shake the hell out of the motor to get it back out after it fell into the little hole below the timing chain, but it's there... *fumes*
redrider, there's no mechanical advance, just a an empty drum... like an automotive brake drum. It came out of a 1980 Z50 motor as far as I know. Comparing the shaft of the crank with one that I know came out of a 50, it appears to be about 1/2" shorter. Could this be a CT70 bottom end?

I could be wrong, but I thought the Z50 and CT70 bottom ends were the same, at least up until a certain year. Perhaps the 1980 Z50 bottom changed some from previous ones. I know the 1980 and later CTs had differences there, mostly the length of the connecting rod, but possible the length of the crank too.

The 70's and 50's are pretty much the same. The 70's changed in 82, not sure about the 50's....Your flywheel doesn't look like a older style. the newer style flywheel wouldn't work on your motor. The newer cranks 82' and up are the same length as the h cranks. 82 still had points also. Not sure when the 50's switched from points.

That doesn't look like the proper flywheel, or should I say, it doesn't look like the flywheel on any of my 4 z50's. That looks like a flywheel off of a newer motor. i am working a lot over the next couple of days, but will try to get picture and or part number of what mine are, hopefully that will help.

That'd be great, thanx!
It's just so bloody frustrating having this sitting here like this, so close to being done. I have a full rolling Z50 chassis just sceaming for a motor so I'd love to get this together. I had the exhaust welded up on our CT70 yesterday and got to watch my little guy run around on that all afternoon. Geez they sound great when they're running good and with a nice tight exhaust. He's having a blast on it and I use it for running around the neighborhood. It's going to be our next resto project over the winter... it runs perfect, now to make it pretty! ![]()
