New K0 Fork Legs - 01-04-2009, 07:47 PM

My father and I are in the business of making reproduction parts for AMC and Rambler cars. If you want, check out my website at AMXMGS Resto Parts - Parts for AMC AMX Javelin Gremlin Hornet Spirit Concord Rambler American Rebel Matador Eagle Pacer. As I was looking at my CT70 stuff I had a thought. I am thinking we will probably start making lower fork legs for CT70 K0 and Z50 applications out of mirror finish stainless steel. No rust and no pits to deal with at all. I have to do a little research as to what it will cost but will most likely be a kit with fork legs and new plastic bushings. I need to know if it would be worth my while designing and building all of the tooling and whatnot to make these, so I would like to hear some feedback as to who might be interested in a set. Like I said, I can't give a set price yet but I'm thinking they will be somewhere between $100-$200 for a complete setup. Here is a similar type product we make for the AMCs so you can see the type of quality. 68-74 AMX/Javelin Fender Support Rods - Stainless - $100.00 : AMXMGS Resto Parts, Parts for AMC Rambler AMX Javelin Gremlin Hornet SC/Rambler American Rebel Machine SC/360 Spirit Rogue Matador Eagle Matador Ambassador Marlin
So what I need is a tally of who would most likely buy a set and how many you would buy.

Count me in for a set. These are very difficult to find, especially in good condition. It would be great if we had a place to get them. Thanks

Yeah...that's the other thing. I would also be able to make them out of steel and have them chrome plated as original, so keep that in mind.

I think it would be a good venture as long as you can keep them down to $100-$150 a set. I think anymore and people would just have their originals re-chromed.

If you can make them look like the originals and keep them under $150, I'm sold. Will you have them chromed? What parts will come with them? How soon before we see a pre run? Good luck.

I could have them chromed, but then again so can you with some originals. The chrome plating is stupid expensive as most of you know. Yes, I can do it no problem and probably will. Stainless is really the way to fly though. The shine will be right up there with chrome and will never rust pit or rust. Here are some examples of stainless stuff we do:

Sorry...forgot to answer some of Ryan's questions. It is looking like they will be supplied with new nylon slider bushings. I just came up with the idea today but it is feasible that I'll have some sort of a prototype within the next week or two. Also, if I were to make chrome ones, they would be chrome plated steel, just like the originals.

You guys really got me brainstorming now...It'd probably also include a new collar and roll pin for the top.

I think the lower spring keepers have be discontinued as well. I remember "rfranks" having a heck of a time finding used ones.

I'm eager to see what you come up with. If they look original and are chrome I'd buy as pair in a heart beat.
