Help with Ct70K3 - 12-31-2008, 04:39 PM

I have been looking at fiche for my 1974 CT70K3.
And it shows that beyond frame number 2320002
It uses a different handle bar then the prior frame numbers.
My bike didn't have a rear brake lever on the left handle bar,
but it has the perch for one on it.

Does anyone know if either I need a different handle bar or did some bikes come with the perch on the handlebar but no brake lever or cable attached from the factory?

Thanks

Some auto's did not come with the rear brake hand lever. I thought that those particular ones did not have the perch on the right side. I have a K3 as well and it does have the rear brake hand lever/perch. If yours is setup this way, I would just order a cable and hand grip and get it installed. You may need additional hardware installed at the rear foot brake location to make it functional. It may be possible you are just missing a cable and hand lever. Do you have any pictures?

I had a 1974 K3 Topaz orange and the handlebars had lever perches. Mine was purchased from the original owner who kept it factory original.

Scrubus,
I posted this exact same question about 6 months ago. My 2 owner K3 came with a left hand perch but NO brake lever ever. I even asked the original owner and he said the same thing, never had one. So I guess some 74's came with a left hand rear brake lever and some didn't. Heck my 74 frame doesn't even have the rear brake acuator stud on the frame either.

Hi Thanks for the reply. What is your vin number? Sounds like before a certain vin number they had the brake lever and after they don't.
I noticed my brake pedal doesn't seem to have the ability to run a cable to it. Makes me think they replaced the handle some time in it's life time.

This is a pic of the way it is now after I painted and started putting the decals on it.1974 CT70K3.jpg

Mine is 2325225. From the Microfiche it appears that
up to Frame 2320001 had the Brake and after didn't.

Thanks,
I appreciate your time.

Chris
