Removing stickers on new paint job - 12-30-2008, 07:37 PM

Ok, here's a dumb*** for you. Stickers are crooked and off center. Has anyone removed stickers after they've been on awhile? What's the easiest and any tricks of the trade? I can't mess up the paint, so what's an idiot to do? I will be applying new ones if and when I can get these off. HELP!
Jamie

I think mine are crocked too. Do you line the "HONDA" up horizontally with the ground or with the chrome trim piece?

I've went through 3 sets trying to get the closest looking stickers. NEVC seems to have the best HKO sticker out there.

The first two sets peeled right off with a little heat from a blow dryer. I used an adhesive remover like "Goof Off" to remove any residue.

Jamie, I have used a"smart eraser pad" many times to remove decals, even the ones on my original KO, after they came off just used a little "goof off" and it looked good as new. you can buy the pad at most auto body paint supply stores and use it in a cordless drill at a moderate speed(below about 3800 rpm). Worked for me! but take it slow, maybe use it on something else first to get the hang of it, it lookes like a big round eraser.Cost less than $15 and will last forever!

I'll agree with Hornetgod.Get a heat gun and they'll peel right off. Then the Goof Off,works great.

I just went out to the shop and tried it again on a bike I am parting out and I was pretty rough on it but, all it did was take of the decal and polish up the paint! this is on 37 year old paint though, I would be real carefull with new paint, but I have used it many times to remove lettering and decals from my racecar and my work trucks, if anyone uses this, make sure and drape a towel over the engine, as rubber flys around.Don

I've got this little hand steamer for clothing that I've used to remove stickers, inspection stickers, stuff like that. I've not tried it on fresh paint thou, think I'd wait a few months before doing anything to fresh paint.

The "Honda" is supposed to line up with the chrome strip along the top edge of frame. From what I've read and researched, the top of the sticker is supposed to be even with the top edge of the frame (where it's welded together).
As far as decals, CHP used to have good ones, the lettering has changed though, and it's more orange than red. NEVC has really good ones, Hornet is right, they are the best out there right now. IMO

Removed quite a few (and I'm sure there'll be quite a few more!) with a heat gun. Works excellently. Not on new paint however - yet...........

Damn! That what I feared. I used the angles that were cut in the sticker to align them last time. Looks like I'll have to order ANOTHER set from NEVC. I'll align the words to match the angle of the chrome piece next time.

I'll try to get you some pics of mine, you and I did the exact same thing. Oh well, live and learn. I'm going to try the heat gun very carefully to remove.
