Wanted z50 k1 -
09-05-2008, 04:40 PM
Hey,
I'm new to this list. I used to own a 1969 z50 and I'd like to find one in reasonbly good shape. I don't really want a perfect / museum quality example. Where's a good place to start looking? Any info about this guy's restorations? From what I can see these are nice but way over my price range. eBay Store - Jerry's Z50's And Stuff: Minibike Stuff, Antiques My old 69 no longer had the fenders, lights and was pretty stripped down by the time I got rid of it in the early 70's. But it ran and I'd be happy to find something like that as long as it wasn't too cobbled up and was worth restoring. What do I look for? And watch out for? (and other such good advice) Tom |

There are at any given time dozens of mini trails in "rider" condition on ebay,CL,Recycler etc. You should be able to find a well enjoyed one for well under 1K that runs good. Jerry Ure does top shelf restorations-expect to pay 4-5 k for one of his K1's. As far as what to look for they are pretty straight forward-if it shifts, doesn't smoke, and stops you can't go too wrong for a few hundred hoops. Lots of resources out there parts wise.

Thanks for the quick reply, the 5k stuff looks like its worth 5k!
I'd just scuff something like that up too much. I've been looking on e-bay and craigslist, I'll have to check out recycler. (My SCCA 240z looks alot like the old Bob Sharp CP car. Mine's built for ITS so no flares and such and I scuff it up too) |
